Leaving home with no
more than a compass,
notebooks, and morale
the size of a letterbox,
we set out to find the
highly sought after
Tupperware box.  The
air was cold, the clues
difficult, but we
managed to find the
Natrix Natrix, kingfisher,
nightingale, but not the
letterbox itself.  We
learned many
lessons....I'll think of
some in a minute....It's
coming to me...We
learned that we need to
make our own letterbox!

NATRIX!
NATRIX!
Letterboxing is fantastic!  We carpooled to a mountain with
a castle ruin on top.  It was cold at first, but we warmed by
hiking for two hours on the mountain, looking for the
castle. When we got to the top, we saw big, bulgy, stacked
red rocks, then we walked a little more and found the
castle.  We were fatigued!

To find the letterbox, we had to get clues.  A paper from the
Internet told us what to look for.  We found a well and the
date the castle was built.  My favorite part was the
dungeon.  It was a clue also.  It was dark and creepy, cool,
and I loved it!

After we found the clues, we had to find the letterbox.  We
had to go behind the castle.  There was a hill with rocks
on top.  We used the clues and a compass to find the
hidden letterbox.  We stamed our stamps in the notebook,
and in our notebooks, we put a stamp of the castle.

We went back the way we were supposed to go in the first
place.  We stopped for ice cream on the way home.  I want
to do it again!

We never found it.
We found the box on
three trips but we did
not find it on the 4th.

Is there a better way to spend a
day than wandering through
mountainous terrain following
clues to castle ruins?  What
could be better?  Homeschool
events are all fun!  In fact, any
homeschool event that does not
involve a trip to the emergency
room is a good time!  ~ Mrs.
